CANCELED: Benefit of dogs for seniors- Cancelled

“Man’s Best Friend” may be his dog for more than one reason. Though companionship and comfort is often the first thought when discussing the positive effects of owning a dog, the overall benefit may far surpass the warm feelings. Recently, many studies have pointed to actual health improvement as a major side effect of active dog ownership.

Meet Alan and his senior therapy dog "Shawn" and learn how Shawn went from zero to hero as a rescued abandoned dog. Join us to learn the latest research in health benefits for dog ownership and the right mix of activity and interaction to benefit you and your four legged companion. UH Pet Pals and Rescue Village will have ambassador dogs to meet and greet everyone. Appropriate adoptable dogs will be also be on hand as available for anyone seeking a furry exercise partner.
