The 1869 Geauga County Court House – A Wider View In-Person

150th Anniversary of Geauga County’s Historic (1869) Courthouse

Bill Jackson, popular local historian, will cover the destruction of the 1824 Geauga County Court House in the Fire of 1868, the controversy over rebuilding a new Court House in Chardon, and the construction of the present courthouse. Bill will review the “County-Seat Question” - the reoccurring fight during the two+ century history of Geauga County over the appropriate location for the county offices and courts.

Seating is limited – you must register!

Two sessions will be offered:

Saturday October 26 at 1:00 pm Chardon branch, GCPL, Bostwick Room with short walk to site of former Court House and the existing Court House, weather permitting.

Tuesday October 29 at 7:00 pm Chardon branch, GCPL, Bostwick Room (no walk)
