When This You See Remember Me: Exploring early American portraits from Ohio State University's Rare Books & Manuscripts Library In-Person

10:00am - 11:00am: Lecture

11:00am - 4:00pm: Interactive scanning event

Kate Shannon, Ohio State University's 2025-26 Artist Laureate, will explore the enduring emotional and historical significance of these cased portraits, examining themes of memory, preservation, and the evolving role of photographs in our modern lives.

Bring your own photos, documents, slides, or negatives (5 photos/documents, 10 slides max) to have them scanned and saved on to a USB drive for you to have and enjoy! Equipment from the library's Digital Legacy Labs will be available to use. See and learn how to preserve your memories. Scanning will be organized on a sign-in sheet so you will have an idea when you will be able to use the equipment. Assistance will be available, no technology skills needed.

Kate Shannon will be available for the whole event to answer any questions!
